The Ministry of Health, Anambra State, has successfully concluded its supervisory visits to selected Primary Healthcare (PHC) facilities across the state, as part of activities marking the First Quarter 2026 Expanded State Oversight Committee (SOC) Meeting on the implementation of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF).

The supervision, conducted on Tuesday, April 28, covered over 20 PHCs across various Local Government Areas, with a focus on assessing service delivery, facility conditions, and workforce performance.
At the high-level Expanded SOC meeting held thereafter, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo, who serves as Chairman of the Committee, presided over deliberations.

The meeting brought together the Executive Secretaries of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ASPHCDA) and the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Directors of Health, and key development partners.

Participants engaged in extensive discussions on findings from the supervisory visits.
Key issues identified across the facilities included inadequate staffing, infrastructural challenges such as leaking roofs, non-compliance with professional identification protocols by some health workers, and gaps in data reporting.
The Committee emphasized the need for immediate and coordinated actions to address these challenges, with a view to strengthening primary healthcare service delivery and ensuring optimal utilization of BHCPF resources across the state.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuous monitoring, accountability, and improvement of healthcare services to enhance health outcomes for all residents of Anambra State.
