MINISTRY OF HEALTH, ANAMBRA SEALS UNREGISTERED HEALTH FACILITY, SHUTS DOWN TBAS

The Ministry of Health, Anambra State Commissioner has sealed an unregistered health facility, Vick-Benedict’s Home, in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area and facilities of some Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs).
This is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal health practices and to ensure quality healthcare delivery in the state.
While commenting at the cites of these closures the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, accompanied by the Director, Medical Services of the ministry, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu, said that the facilities were operating without the required registration and approval from the ministry.
Following the discovery of the Vick Benedict’s Home, the commissioner ordered its immediate sealing and directed that the operators report to the Ministry’s Department of Medical Services at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka, for further clarification and regulatory actions.
During the exercise, the commissioner inspected some Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) operating in the area without authorization from the Ministry of Health Government.
Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Obidike reiterated the commitment of the Soludo administration at sanitizing the health sector and ensuring that only licensed and properly regulated health facilities operated within the state.
He warned operators of unregistered hospitals, maternity homes, rehabilitation centres, and Traditional Birth Attendant facilities to regularize their operations in line with government regulations or risk closure and prosecution.
The commissioner urged residents of the state to patronize only registered and accredited health facilities, stressing that the government remains committed to protecting the lives and well-being of Ndi Anambra through strict enforcement of healthcare standards.
