The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, said town union Presidents-General are critical gatekeepers in the state government’s plan to reclaim Anambra’s lost values.

Dr. Mefor stated this when he addressed members of the Anambra State Association of Town Union Council (ASTUC) at their office in Awka, saying the visit was to formally get acquainted with the leadership and strengthen cooperation for the betterment of the state.

According to him, the Solution Government recognises the role of town unions in grassroots development, which is why it is moving to make town unions the fourth tier of government.

He said the ministry was expanded beyond information because infrastructure alone is not enough. “You are all seeing the good works of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in infrastructure. What is remaining is value reformation. We cannot leave all these works for rogues, cultists and drug addicts,” he said.

Mefor noted that many youths have formed kidnapping and terrorism gangs and need help to exit crime. “Our work is to salvage those who are willing to be saved and prevent others from joining. If we start now, those coming after us can continue from where we stop,” he said.

He disclosed that the ministry is forming a coalition of the willing to develop a blueprint for the campaign, adding that the manual is already before the Governor and the Anambra State Executive Council. Implementation, he said, will rest on legislation, moral suasion and enforcement, with special focus on drug peddlers and suppliers.

Responding, ASTUC Chairman, Sir Vin Dike, assured the commissioner of the council’s full partnership with the ministry on value reformation, but requested that town unions be carried along at the policy formulation stage to enable them contribute ideas for better implementation at the grassroots.
