The Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor, has extended warm greetings and best wishes to Muslim faithful across the council area as they celebrate Eid El-Maulud on August 25.
In a goodwill message marking the special occasion, Mayor Okafor congratulated muslim brothers and sisters in Awka South, describing Eid El-Maulud as a significant celebration that provides an opportunity for reflection, spiritual renewal, and appreciation of the exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
He noted that the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) remains a profound occasion for Muslims around the world, stressing that his teachings continue to inspire values that are essential for peaceful and progressive societies.
According to him, the virtues of peace, compassion, humility, tolerance, and service to humanity demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) remain important principles that should guide individuals, families, communities, and leaders in their daily engagements.
Prince Okafor urged Muslim faithful in Awka South to use the celebration as an opportunity to strengthen their commitment to peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, brotherhood, and harmonious relationships with people of other faiths and backgrounds.
He emphasized that the progress and development of Awka South require collective efforts from all residents, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, adding that unity and cooperation remain essential to building a stronger and more prosperous local government.
The mayor prayed that the celebration of Eid El-Maulud would bring joy, divine blessings, peace, good health, and renewed hope to Muslim families across Awka South, while asking Almighty Allah to continue to guide and protect them.
He also called on the people of Awka South to continue supporting one another and promoting an atmosphere of peace, understanding, tolerance, and love, particularly during a period when communities need greater unity and compassion.
Prince Okafor further assured residents of his administration’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every citizen can contribute meaningfully to the development and advancement of Awka South Local Government Area.
He urged Muslim faithful to reflect on the lessons of Prophet Muhammad’s life and translate the values of kindness, justice, patience, humility, and service into practical actions that would benefit their families and the wider society.
The Mayor concluded by wishing all Muslim faithful in Awka South and beyond a peaceful and joyous Eid El-Maulud celebration, praying that the occasion would strengthen their faith and bring lasting blessings to their homes and communities.
