In a powerful display of love and humility, St Joseph The Worker Parish Enekwasumpu commemorated Maundy Thursday with great fervor. The Mass of the Lord’s Supper was at the heart of the observance, recalling the institution of the Eucharist and Jesus’ commandment to love one another.
The ritual washing of feet brought the congregation to tears of joy, as they reflected on Jesus’ sacrifice. Rev. Fr. Evaristus Ezeani’s homily emphasized Jesus’ humility, highlighting the significance of the Holy Eucharist, Commandments, and Priesthood.
“The act of love and humility serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of putting others before ourselves,” Fr. Ezeani said.
The faithful took turns washing and drying each other’s feet, symbolizing their commitment to serving one another in love. The atmosphere was solemn, yet filled with reverence and gratitude.
The ceremony brought together members of the congregation, who reflected on the true meaning of Jesus’ sacrifice and the importance of love, communal with God through prayer, thanks giving and service in the Christian faith.
It was a moment of profound humility, as the congregation came together to celebrate the love of Jesus. As the ceremony unfolded, the congregation was reminded of the significance of the Easter Tridum.
The Tridum, which includes Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday, is a time for reflection, prayer, and celebration. The faithful departed with a renewed sense of purpose, eager to live out Jesus’ commandment to love one another.
This Maundy Thursday has indeed been a celebration of love, humility, and service at St Joseph The Worker Parish Enekwasumpu, setting the tone for a Holy Week filled with reflection, prayer, and celebration
