The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has on Aug. 29, described the peaceful conduct of the Local Government Election across the state as a strong indication of the effectiveness of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s security architecture.
Hon. Udeze said the election, held across the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra, was conducted without any major security breach, violence or reported electoral malpractice, reflecting the prevailing peace and stability in the state.
The Speaker stated this at his country home in Atani, Ogbaru Local Government Area, while reacting to the outcome of the election. According to him, the peaceful exercise further demonstrated the success of the Soludo administration in its efforts to safeguard lives and property while consolidating peace across the state.
He said the development had added to the achievements of the present administration in restoring security and creating an environment conducive to development. Hon. Udeze also described the outcome of the election in Ogbaru as another demonstration of the unity and strength of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), noting that party members in the area remained united by their commitment to the peace, unity and development of Anambra State.
The Speaker congratulated the Mayors-elect and Councillors-elect across the state, urging them to regard their victories as a mandate to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to grassroots development. He charged the newly elected council leaders to immediately align with the Solution Team and support Governor Soludo’s development agenda.
“Your election is not merely a victory; it is a call to greater responsibility. You must join the Solution Team and complement the transformational leadership of Governor Soludo, who has distinguished himself in governance through massive infrastructure, economic and human capital development, as well as policies aimed at improving the living standards of Ndi Anambra,” Udeze said.
He also commended the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) for what he described as the impartial, transparent and credible conduct of the election. Hon. Udeze further expressed confidence that APGA’s performance in the Local Government Election reflected the confidence of the people in the party and the Soludo administration.
He maintained that the party’s strong showing at the local government level would provide a solid foundation for its performance in future general elections in Anambra. “The overwhelming support demonstrated by Ndi Anambra for APGA is a clear indication that the people believe in the Solution agenda. This same spirit and confidence will undoubtedly be replicated in the forthcoming general elections.”.
