It was an atmosphere of jubilation and joy at Awkuzu community in Oyi Local Government Area as they took over the solution reticulated solar driven drinkable water facility by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
The President General of Awkuzu Development Union, Dr. Ejike Ogoegbunam expressed their happiness over the restoration of their pipe born water during a technical handover of the water project by the Ministry of Power and Water Supply, Anambra State.
Dr. Ogoegbunam thanked the state government for the resuscitation of both rural and small water projects in their community, saying that he who gives water, gives life.
He, then, promised that they will apply good measures to secure and sustain the wonderful project given to them by the Soludo’s administration.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Anambra State, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka who was represented by a staff of the ministry in water department, Mr Okechukwu Onyedibe while speaking during the technical handover, stressed that the PPCP model of Soludo’s administration is a welcomed development where the private sector, public, community and government will be actively involved in all the governmental projects going on in their community.
Onyedibe charged Awkuzu community to constitute a working committee that will see for the day to day running and maintenance of the facilities. “The most important thing for any government project is its sustainability”.
He, then, urged them not to undermine the good intensions of Governor Soludo, rather to own, manage and sustain the water facilities.
Handing over of the water project to the President General of Awkuzu Development Union by the Ministry of Power and Water Resources formed the high point of the event.
