Justice, Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC) Nnewi, Anambra State, has reiterated its commitment to improving governance at the grassroots level. Director Rev. Fr. Ben Okolo stated this during a High-Level Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Local Government System Strengthening.
The event aimed to reimagine local governance and administration in Anambra, focusing on citizen participation, accountability, and community-driven development. Okolo emphasized that governance works best when citizens are active participants, not spectators.

Speakers stressed the need for a strengthened local government system, capable of driving development and meeting community needs. The Anambra Local Governance Accountability Fellowship (ALGAF) initiative aims to address systemic gaps in local government, promoting transparency and accountability.

ALGAF involves capacity building, citizen engagement, and policy dialogue to enhance governance and service delivery. Participants urged local government officials to be accessible and responsive to their constituents, prioritizing community needs.
