As the world marks International Humanist Day on June 21, attention is focused on values such as human dignity, equality, education, critical thinking and social progress.
In Anambra State, these ideals align with several initiatives of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, particularly in education, human capital development, social welfare and the protection of vulnerable groups.
Humanist principles emphasize respect for the rights and dignity of all people. In recent years, the state government has strengthened efforts to tackle child abuse, gender-based violence and other social challenges through policy interventions and collaboration with relevant agencies.

Education, a key pillar of humanism, has also received significant attention through teacher recruitment, school rehabilitation, learning support programmes and digital education initiatives aimed at improving access to quality learning.
The administration’s investments in healthcare, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure development reflect efforts to improve living standards and create opportunities for residents.
As Anambra joins the global community in observing International Humanist Day, the occasion serves as a reminder of the importance of human rights, quality education, inclusiveness and people-centred development in building a prosperous society.
