The Traditional Ruler of Obosi Kingdom and Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council (ASTRC), HRH, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweka |||, has commended the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, for their remarkable innovations and unwavering commitment towards transforming the healthcare sector in the state.

The Obosi monarch described Anambra’s emergence for the second time under Soludo administration as the leading state in Nigeria in primary healthcare performance as a testament to the governor’s strategic investments, effective policies and dedication to improving the wellbeing of the people.

According to Eze Iweka, the outstanding achievement is a clear indication that the governor’s deliberate efforts in strengthening healthcare infrastructure, enhancing service delivery and supporting health personnel are yielding positive results, with the people of Anambra now enjoying the dividends of an upgraded healthcare system.

Igwe Iweka made the remarks during an interview with news men shortly after the Award Ceremony Day for PHC-Leadership Challenge Fund at the Banquet Hall, Anambra State Government House, Awka.

He further lauded the initiative of the state government to recognise and reward outstanding healthcare workers, noting that the gesture would inspire greater dedication, professionalism, and healthy competition among health personnel.

The ASTRC chairman explained that such recognition would motivate healthcare workers to continually improve their services and contribute more effectively towards achieving a healthier and more prosperous Anambra State.

He urged residents of Anambra and stakeholders to continue supporting the administration’s healthcare initiatives, emphasizing that collective commitment is essential to sustaining the gains already recorded in the sector.

The Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge is an initiative designed to encourage state governments and health leaders to improve the quality, accessibility, and effectiveness of primary healthcare services.

In Nigeria, it often serves as a platform to recognize states that demonstrate outstanding commitment and innovation in strengthening their primary healthcare systems, which Anambra State emerged as the best-performing state in Nigeria, ranking first among the 36 states in quality primary healthcare delivery.

The ceremony featured presentation of awards and cash prizes for outstanding performance to healthcare workers, PHC facilities, communities, as well as local government chairmen that has impacted in Anambra winning the leadership award.
