The Traditional Ruler of Nawfia community, Igwe Daniel Obelle Ezudo, has hosted the Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Area alongside members of the Afor Market reconstruction Committee and the Nawfia Youth Wing in a meeting aimed at advancing plans for the reconstruction and modernization of the popular Afor Nawfia Market.

The gathering, held on May 11, at the royal palace in Nawfia, attracted community leaders, youth representatives, traders and stakeholders who described the market project as a major step toward economic growth and development in the community.

During the meeting, the Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Area Hon.Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, reaffirmed the council’s commitment to supporting projects capable of improving commerce and attracting investors to the area.

According to him, rebuilding Afor Nawfia Market would not only create a safer and more organized trading environment but also generate employment opportunities for youths and women in the community.
“We are determined to support communities that are ready for development. Afor Nawfia Market has the potential to become one of the leading commercial centers in Anambra State if properly reconstructed and managed,” he noted.

In his remarks, Igwe Daniel Obelle Ezudo commended the local government chairman, members of the reconstruction committee and the youth wing for their concern toward the development of Nawfia.

The monarch stressed the importance of unity and cooperation among stakeholders, noting that the market reconstruction would boost economic activities and improve the image of the community.
“Our people deserve a modern market that will compete favorably with other markets across the state. This project is for the future of our youths, traders and the entire Nawfia community,” royal father said.

The Chairman of the Afor Market reconstruction Committee Mr Ugochukwu Udeh, emphasized that plans were already underway to redesign the market with modern structures, improved drainage systems, security posts and better trading spaces.

He explained that the committee would work closely with the local government and community leaders to ensure transparency and speedy execution of the project.

The President General of Nawfia, Chief Daniel Okoye, added that the market will have different sections after reconstruction to make trading easier and more attractive to investors.

Some youth who attended the meeting also expressed excitement over the proposed reconstruction, describing the current state of the market as inadequate for modern business actives.

The meeting ended with prayers for peace, progress reconstruction project.
