By Judith Oraeki-Anigbogu

‎Barely three days after the flag-off of the Idemili South 1,000 Youth and Women Skill Acquisition Initiative, beneficiaries have begun demonstrating practical competence by presenting their first projects to government officials.

‎The project presentation, held on June 17, featured trainees displaying works that reflected creativity, dedication, and enthusiasm. The session was attended by the Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Amaka Obi, and the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba.

‎Speaking at the event, Hon. Obi expressed satisfaction with the quality of work produced by the participants, describing it as evidence that the empowerment programme was achieving its objectives. She noted that the initiative was designed not only to provide training but to equip youths and women with practical, marketable skills for self-reliance and financial independence.

‎“The speed at which trainees have embraced the programme and produced tangible results demonstrates their determination to utilize the opportunity provided by the local government,” she stated.

‎She reiterated her administration’s commitment to creating platforms that reduce unemployment, empower women and youths, and stimulate grassroots economic development across Idemili South.

‎Also speaking, Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba commended the beneficiaries for their performance and urged them to remain focused in developing their skills. He assured them of the state government’s continued support for programmes that promote youth empowerment and entrepreneurship.

‎Officials described the presentation as another milestone in Idemili South’s efforts to harness the potential of its youths and women, transform skills into economic opportunities, and lay a foundation for community development.

‎The event also highlighted the programme’s sustainability, with master trainers drawn from beneficiaries of the previous phase, during which over 700 youths and women were successfully trained.
