The Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Arc. Henry Arize, has called for more inclusive and sustainable community-driven initiatives to empower young people and promote grassroots development across the state.
Arc. Arize made the appeal on June 19 when members of the Nibo Youths paid him a courtesy visit at his office in the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
Welcoming the delegation, the commissioner described the visit as a reflection of unity, dedication and shared commitment to the progress of the Nibo community. He noted that his passion for community development existed long before his appointment into public office.
He encouraged the youth organization to establish a cooperative society and create a comprehensive database of Nibo youths. According to him, such a platform would help identify skills and talents, strengthen collaboration and support the planning of youth-oriented development programmes.
The commissioner also underscored the need for a strong community security structure, stressing that peace, safety and respect for the rule of law are critical foundations for sustainable development.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Obinna Agunma, congratulated Arc. Arize on his appointment, describing it as well-deserved and a source of pride for the people of Nibo.
Comrade Agunma outlined some of the group’s ongoing and proposed initiatives, including the establishment of a Skills Acquisition Centre and plans for an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre to equip young people with relevant skills. He reaffirmed the youth body’s commitment to implementing empowerment programmes that will enhance personal development and stimulate economic growth within the community.
The visit featured with the presentation of an award to Arc. Arize in recognition of his contributions to community development and his continued support for youth empowerment initiatives.
