The newly inaugurated Leader of Idemili South Local Governments Legislative Council, Hon. Val Mbadugha, has unveiled a legislative agenda centred on environmental renewal infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment and accountable delivery of council projects.
Mbadugha said his immediate priority is to support laws, resolutions and budget provisions that address the pressing needs of residents, especially roads, drainage, water supply, primary healthcare, schools, sanitation and security across all wards.
“As Inaugurated Leader, I will provide legislative direction, build consensus among councillors and ensure the executive’s development agenda receives the backing it needs to deliver visible results in our communities,” he said.
He pledged stronger oversight of council projects, insisting that funds approved for infrastructure, health centres, schools and community development must be implemented transparently and for the direct benefit of Idemili South residents.
Mbadugha also promised to work closely with the Executive Chairman, other councillors, traditional rulers, town unions and community leaders to promote unity, peace and inclusive governance throughout the local government area.
“There will be no division between the legislature and the executive. Our focus is service. We will support the Chairman, advise where necessary, and ensure promises made during campaigns become practical development,” he said.
The Majority Leader urged constituents to participate actively to protect public facilities, support sanitation exercises, pay lawful levies and offer constructive feedback that would guide the council’s priorities.
He called on Idemili South residents, women group, market leaders and religious bodies to be law abiding and support the council grassroots development, cleanliness, security awareness and community-driven development initiatives across Idemili South.
Mbadugha assured indigenes that the legislative arm would remain accountable, accessible and committed to equity, adding that his performance would be judged by tangible improvements in every community within the council area.
