St. Stephen Parish, Lumen Kristi Federal Housing Estate, Trans Nkisi GRA, Onitsha was charged with excitement over the weekend as Hon. Shedrack Uwamaka Okafor, a prominent stakeholder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Onitsha North Coordinator of the APGA Solidarity Movement, officially kicked off the 2025 edition of his annual Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) Football Tournament.
Hon. Okafor, who also serves as the Director General of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s campaign in Ward 12, described the tournament as a platform to promote unity, discipline, and positive engagement among young people while fostering community development through sports.
Addressing the large crowd of enthusiastic youths, he urged them to remain steadfast in their faith, stay focused on their goals, and continue supporting the vision of Governor Soludo for a progressive and prosperous Anambra State.
Hon. Okafor called on the youth to come out en masse and vote for APGA in the forthcoming November 8 Governorship election, assuring them of his continuous commitment to youth empowerment initiatives and community development programs.
In his goodwill message, Hon. Obuneme Okafor, the Councillor representing Ward 12, commended Hon. Shedrack Okafor for his consistent support and generosity toward the youth. He further encouraged residents to reciprocate his goodwill by voting massively for APGA, noting that the party’s developmental strides are visible across the state.
He also lauded the ongoing palliative work on the Opi River Bridge 3-3 Road, describing it as part of the Governor’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure and improving the lives of the people through the efforts of the Mayor of Onitsha North LGA, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora.
Ward 12, known as the largest political ward in Onitsha North Local Government Area with 36 polling units, continues to play a strategic role in grassroots mobilization and youth engagement within the APGA structure.
