The Executive Mayor of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Emeka Orji (Dikediebube), has extended warm felicitations to workers and residents of Onitsha South on the occasion of International Workers’ Day.

In a statement released on April 30, the mayor commended the resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions of workers across various sectors, describing them as the driving force behind the growth and development of the local government.

He specifically praised traders, artisans, civil servants, healthcare professionals, teachers, entrepreneurs, and market leaders for their unwavering commitment to duty, noting that their collective efforts form the backbone of progress in Onitsha South.

“Your commitment, sacrifice, and industry remain the backbone of our progress,” Orji stated, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of workers and fostering economic growth.
The mayor highlighted his commitment to people-centered governance, emphasizing ongoing efforts to implement policies and initiatives aimed at empowering local businesses, creating economic opportunities, and ensuring sustainable development across the council area.

Describing Workers’ Day as a reminder of the dignity of labour and the importance of every citizen’s contribution to nation-building, Orji urged residents to remain steadfast and united in their pursuit of collective progress.

“As we step into this new month, I pray it brings renewed hope, greater prosperity, peace, and abundant opportunities to every family in Onitsha South,” he added.

He further encouraged residents to continue working together in unity and dedication to build a more prosperous and progressive community.

The mayor concluded by wishing all workers and residents a rewarding Workers’ Day celebration and a fulfilling new month, expressing optimism for greater achievements ahead.
