The Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has been honoured with an Award of Recognition on June 9, by the Nnewi Telecommunications Dealers Association in appreciation of his selfless service to the association and his role as its founder.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit by members of the association to the Nnewi North Council Chambers. The group commended the Mayor for his unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the association over the years.
Hon. Anazodo occupies a unique position within the association, having founded it several years ago. The body, which comprises GSM dealers, phone technicians, and accessories vendors across Nnewi, was established under his leadership to promote unity, maintain professional standards, and safeguard the interests of telecom traders in the industrial city.
Presenting the award, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Ncheta Chigbo, described Hon. Anazodo as a visionary leader whose contributions continue to impact members positively.
“This award is our little way of expressing gratitude to a man who laid the foundation upon which we stand today. Hon. Anazodo’s vision gave us a collective voice. Even as Mayor, he has remained connected to the association, supporting our growth, resolving disputes, and creating opportunities for members,” he said.
In his response, Hon. Anazodo expressed appreciation to the association for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting small and medium scale enterprises in Nnewi North.
“Nnewi is built by traders and industrialists. Government must partner with associations such as this rather than hinder their progress. As your Mayor and a founding member, I will continue to ensure that the telecommunications sector in Nnewi receives the support it deserves,” he stated.
The Mayor dedicated the award to telecom dealers, technicians, and young entrepreneurs across Nkwo Nnewi who continue to contribute to the local economy through legitimate business activities.
The recognition adds to the growing list of honours and endorsements Hon. Anazodo has received since assuming office, reflecting his strong grassroots connection and hands on approach to governance.
