The Commissioner for Commerce, Anambra State, Mr. Nomso Chukwuma Ebonwu, has charged staff of the Ministry to rededicate themselves to duty and work collectively toward strengthening revenue generation and enhancing the overall performance of the ministry.
The commissioner gave the charge during his first familiarization meeting with the entire staff of the Ministry, held at his office in Awka.
Addressing the staff, Mr. Ebonwu formally introduced himself and expressed his commitment to fostering a productive and result-oriented work environment.
He described the Ministry of Commerce as a critical driver of economic growth and one of the key revenue-generating institutions of the state government, stressing the need for diligent revenue collection and prompt remittance in line with government policies.
The commissioner emphasized the importance of regular attendance and dedication to duty, noting that discipline, accountability and teamwork remain essential ingredients for achieving the ministry’s objectives.
He further announced his adoption of an open-door policy, encouraging members of staff to freely share innovative ideas and suggestions that would contribute to the growth and advancement of the ministry.
“I am running an open-door policy. Anyone who has ideas on how to move this ministry higher should not hesitate to come forward. What I need is results,” commissioner said.
Mr. Ebonwu also assured staff of his commitment to their welfare, stressing that a motivated workforce remains vital to effective service delivery.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Michael Obiekwe, thanked the commissioner for taking time to meet and interact with staff members.
He assured him of the readiness and commitment of the ministry’s workforce to support his vision and work collaboratively toward achieving greater results.
“We assure you that the staff of the ministry are ready to work with you. All hands will be on deck to ensure the successful realization of the ministry’s mandate and the attainment of meaningful results,” Permanent Secretary said.
Also speaking during the meeting, the Head of Administration, Mrs. Ogechi Nwasike, and Mr. Paul Agbata of the Administration Department welcomed the commisioner and pledged the support and cooperation of staff toward the successful discharge of his responsibilities.
The familiarization meeting forms part of the commissioner’s ongoing engagements since assuming office. Prior to the meeting, Mr. Ebonwu had held separate interactions with Heads of Departments and had actively participated in key government functions and official state engagements aimed at advancing the economic development agenda of the Solution government.
