The Commissioner for Commerce, Anambra State, Mr. Nomso Chukwuma Ebonwu, on Monday, June 1, 2026, convened a strategic meeting with Heads of Departments of the Ministry as part of efforts to strengthen operations and improve service delivery.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Michael Obiekwe, and provided a platform for the Commissioner to engage directly with HODs and assess the activities, challenges, and prospects of their respective departments.

Speaking at the session, Mr. Ebonwu said the engagement was designed to obtain a clear understanding of the current state of affairs across all departments and to define a strategic direction for enhanced performance and productivity.
He emphasized the need for collaboration, accountability, and innovation in fulfilling the Ministry’s mandate and advancing the economic development agenda of the Anambra State Government.
Departments represented included Commerce, headed by Mrs. Henrietta Basil-Ideh; Accounts, headed by Mrs. Chioma Anagbakwu; Administration, headed by Mrs. Ogechi Nwasike; Market Development, headed by Mr. Francis Iloduba; Industry, headed by Mrs. J.N. Eboh-Nwosu; and Cooperatives, headed by Mrs. B.C. Odoegbunam.

The Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to an open-door policy and urged departmental heads to be proactive in identifying opportunities and implementing initiatives that would improve the Ministry’s effectiveness and revenue generation capacity.
The meeting is one of several engagements the Commissioner has held since assuming office, aimed at fostering teamwork, strengthening institutional efficiency, and positioning the Ministry for greater impact.
