‎As part of his commitment to achieving a lasting and peaceful resolution to the communal dispute between the Umuoba Anam and Aguleri communities, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has constituted a Commission of Inquiry that will thoroughly investigate the remote and immediate causes of the conflict and ensure that all lawful avenues for lasting peace are explored.
‎
‎The Commission members are:
‎Hon. Justice Nkemdilim Izuakor (Rtd), Chairman; Hon. Ekenechukwu Okoye, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Boundary Matters, Secretary; Ven. Onyinye Ilione, member; Rev. Fr. Cyril Elochukwu Mokwe, member; C.P. Ndianefo Esq., member; HRH Peter Chukwuma Anigbogu, member; and HRH Peter Ezeamama, member.
‎
‎This was announced in a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, on October 16.
‎
‎The governor mandated the Commission to determine the remote and immediate causes of the dispute between the Umuoba Anam and Aguleri communities, including the causes of the crisis that erupted between them from October 1 to October 4. It is also tasked with identifying factors related to the dispute that could lead to further crises between the two communities, or between either community and its neighbours.

The Commission will recommend steps the state government should take to end the dispute and bring lasting peace to the Anam and Aguleri communities and any others affected.
‎
‎He reiterated that his administration would spare no effort to ensure that peace, justice and the rule of law prevail. He urged all stakeholders in both communities to cooperate fully with the Commission and refrain from any acts that could undermine ongoing peace efforts.
‎
‎The Commission is expected to conclude its inquiry and submit its report to the governor by February 28, 2027.
