The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced special Easter patrol operations as part of efforts to enhance road safety and reduce crashes during the festive period.
The corps also urged motorists and other road users to strictly obey road signs and traffic regulations to prevent avoidable accidents.

Speaking in an interview, the Chief Route Commander, Corps R.I. Irechukwu, Unit Commander, Ogidi Unit Command, RS 5.38, said the Easter patrol is aimed at reducing road crashes, managing traffic, clearing obstructions, and strengthening road safety enforcement across major routes and grassroots communities.
He added that the operation is being supported by intensified public enlightenment and advocacy visits to churches and other public places.

The development comes as 135 newly trained road marshals were inducted in Awka, following a three-week intensive territorial training to strengthen manpower and support effective implementation of the operation.
Motorists were also advised to carry out necessary vehicle checks, including tyres, brakes, and wipers, especially as the rainy season approaches.
Some of the newly inducted marshals expressed readiness to support safer roads, pledging to uphold discipline and assist in traffic control during the festive period.
