Rev. Fr. Jude Uche, officiating priest of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Enugu, has urged Christians to conquer all forms of fear through unwavering faith in Christ Jesus.
The cleric gave the charge during Mass on June 21, while preaching on the Gospel of Matthew 10:26-33.
“Do not be afraid of people. Whatever is now covered up will be uncovered, and every secret will be made known. What I am telling you in the dark, you must repeat in broad daylight, and what you have heard in private, you must announce from the housetops. Be afraid of God who can destroy both body and soul,” he said.
Fr. Uche explained that fear has weakened the faith of many Christians, pushing some to seek solutions from native doctors instead of praying before the Blessed Sacrament. He noted that students living in doubt and fear often lack confidence to excel academically, while business owners gripped by fear struggle to grow their ventures.
He, therefore, encouraged converts and all believers to build strong faith, remain prayerful, and trust God to overcome temptations and challenges.
The cleric also enjoined Christians to reject fear of social vices plaguing the country, such as kidnapping and armed robbery, stressing that faith in God offers protection and peace.
