The Parish Priest of Holy Family Catholic Church, Nkpor, Rev. Fr. Cyprian Nwafor, has called on Christians to remain steadfast in faith, unity, and service as they celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord.
In his Ascension Day message to members of the church community today May 14, Fr. Nwafor said the feast marks not only Christ’s return to the Father after His resurrection but also a reminder of the responsibility Christians have to continue His mission on earth.
According to him, the Ascension signifies hope and spiritual elevation for believers, urging Christians to become living examples of love, justice, compassion, and service within their homes and communities.
“For us at Holy Family Catholic Church, Nkpor, this feast carries a powerful message of faith, hope, and responsibility. Though Christ ascended into heaven, He entrusted us with the mission of continuing His work here on earth,” he said.
The cleric encouraged the faithful to remain committed to caring for one another, supporting the weak, and strengthening unity within the Church and society despite prevailing social and economic challenges.
He further noted that the celebration also points toward the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, stressing that believers must seek renewed courage and wisdom to face life’s challenges with faith and perseverance.
Fr. Nwafor urged Christians to hold firmly to the promise of Christ’s eventual return while living lives rooted in holiness, patience, and joyful service.
He prayed for peace, divine protection, and blessings upon families and members of Holy Family Catholic Church, Nkpor, wishing them a grace-filled Ascension Day celebration.
