Farmers in Anambra State, under the support of Divine Men and Women Farmers Nigeria, have hailed President Bola Tinubu, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, for their commitment to achieving food surplus in Nigeria.
The commendation was made during a familiarization visit to the State Director of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Chief Arthur Mbuba,
Speaking, the group’s National President, Mrs. Chiamaka Ositadinma, said government policies promoting agriculture are transforming the sector from subsistence farming to a viable agribusiness ecosystem.
She noted that initiatives such as the declaration of a state of emergency on agriculture and temporary tariff waivers on food imports have boosted production and reduced prices.
Ositadinma highlighted the collaboration between the Federal Government and Anambra State, noting that Governor Soludo’s distribution of seedlings—including palm, coconut, maize, rice, and yam—has encouraged large-scale farming and improved food availability in the state.
She added that the group, which has branches across the 36 states, is committed to sustaining food surplus and ensuring support reaches genuine farmers while appealing for government funding, either through grants or loans, to enable members expand farming activities across available farmlands in the state.
In his response, Chief Mbuba assured the group of partnership and support, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to food security, noting that agriculture remains a top priority of the Tinubu administration and promised to forward the group’s requests to the appropriate authorities for consideration.
