The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has urged parishioners of St. Mary’s Eucharistic Parish, Nri, and the entire Nri community to remain focused on Jesus Christ as the source of their salvation.
Bishop Ezeokafor gave the charge during a Pontifical Mass marking his pastoral visit to St. Mary’s Eucharistic Parish, Nri, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, on August 9.
In his homily, Bishop Ezeokafor described Jesus Christ as the solution to the problems confronting humanity and urged the faithful to place their trust in God and patiently follow Christ.
He cautioned the people against paganism and other ungodly practices capable of distracting them from their Christian faith and their pursuit of eternal salvation.
He commended the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Martin Anyabolu, and the entire parishioners for their contributions and dedication to the growth of the Church.
Bishop Ezeokafor prayed that God would reward their efforts and use the pastoral visit to bless the land and people of Nri.
The event featured the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation to 142 candidates and the blessing of a newly constructed Stations of the Cross within the church premises.
The ceremony attracted the Chancellor of Awka Diocese, Rev. Fr. Charles Ndubuisi; the Education Secretary of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Maximus Okonkwo; priests, religious men and women, as well as prominent members of the Nri community, including the President-General, Sir Romanus Okafor.
The pastoral visit also featured a grand reception for the Bishop, chaired by Prince Johnphilip Tabansi.
