The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Anambra State Branch, has reiterated its commitment to providing free legal services to indigent and vulnerable women and children across the state.
The organisation has, since its establishment, taken up cases on behalf of women and children who are unable to afford legal representation and are subjected to various forms of discrimination, abuse, torture, exploitation and violence.
FIDA is an international organisation of female lawyers dedicated to the protection and promotion of the rights of women and children. With branches across the 36 states of Nigeria, the organisation continues to serve as a voice for vulnerable members of society who may otherwise lack the means or support to seek justice.
Speaking on the activities of the organisation while addressing newsmen in Awka, on Sept. 7, the Chairperson of FIDA Anambra State Branch, Barr. Amara Muojeke, said FIDA provides legal representation, counselling and other forms of support to victims while pursuing justice on their behalf.
She explained that the organisation undertakes these responsibilities out of its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and contributing to the welfare of society.
Barr. Muojeke urged residents of Anambra State experiencing any form of abuse, violence, torture, discrimination, exploitation or humiliation to seek legal redress and approach FIDA Anambra for assistance.
She emphasised that the organisation’s legal services are provided free of charge, particularly to persons who may not have the financial capacity to secure legal representation. “The most important and beautiful part of this organisation is that we take up these cases free of charge, without charging any legal fees,” the Chairperson said.
