The Anambra State Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Anthony Ezenwaka has assured that 2026 will usher in more invigorated civil service.

In a press statement in Awka ahead of the Christmas celebration and the coming year, Mr. Ezenwaka assured that the commission will map out strategies to strengthen the work force.

To this end, he announced that the usual APER assessment requirement for the evaluation and promotion of civil servants will be replaced by a performance based assessment strategy.

In addition, the Commission’s boss placed emphasis on a merit based civil service with a view to ensuring that at the entry point of every civil servant, the right pegs will be put in round holes in terms of job definitions.

Mr. Ezenwaka further frowned at instances where civil servants stay beyond their terminal period of retirement, assuring that the commission will not tolerate such abuse of official procedure.

He also warned that the commission will track down workers who falsify their ages and will mete out adequate punishments for such infractions.

Mr. Ezenwaka appreciated workers for being supportive of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration demonstrated in the November 8 governorship election in the state during which the governor swept the polls in all the 21 LGAs of the state.

He commended the state chief executive for improving the infrastructural development of the commission within and outside its premises and promised to do more to justify the mandate given to it to revamp the civil service sector.

The commission’s boss expects that workers will continue to give their best in the service of the state to reciprocate the kind gesture of the governor under whose watch their promotions, transfers, conversions among other entitlements have been perfected.

Doubling as the President General of the Achina Town Union, Mr. Ezenwaka commended Governor Soludo for giving the community dividends of democracy, and expects them to reciprocate the gesture by supporting his administration.
