The Environment and Safety Management Institute has commended the Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, for his commitment to improving environmental management and promoting sustainable environmental practices across the state.
The commendation was made during the Institute’s 18th Induction ceremony and seminar held at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, on Sept. 2, where Aguiyi was recognised for his efforts, professional commitment and sustained advocacy for environmental responsibility since assuming office.

The Institute also lauded the commissioner’s open-door policy and willingness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, noting his consistent use of various platforms to promote environmental awareness and encourage residents to take greater responsibility for protecting their surroundings.
Addressing the newly inducted environmental and safety professionals, Aguiyi congratulated them on attaining the professional milestone and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism while serving as responsible environmental practitioners and ambassadors.

He highlighted some of the environmental challenges confronting Anambra State, stressing that the expertise and knowledge of environmental professionals would be critical to developing sustainable solutions, regardless of where they currently practise.
The commissioner conveyed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s goodwill to the Institute and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with environmental professionals, institutions and other relevant stakeholders towards strengthening collaborative efforts to achieve a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Anambra State.

The National President of the Institute, Dr. Martin Iorsamber, expressed appreciation to Aguiyi for honouring the invitation and said the Institute looked forward to strengthening its relationship with the Anambra State Ministry of Environment.

In recognition of the commissioner’s leadership and contributions to environmental development, Iorsamber offered to sponsor Aguiyi’s registration with the Institute and pledged to formally induct him as a member.
The ceremony highlighted the importance of professional collaboration and collective responsibility in tackling environmental challenges and advancing sustainable environmental management in Anambra State.
