Human rights lawyer and social critic, Sir Ifeanyichukwu Ejiofor, Esq., has received the Most Outstanding Human Rights Lawyer of the Year 2026 award from Creekvibes Magazine in recognition of his contributions to human rights advocacy and the pursuit of justice.

The award was presented on Oct. 24, at the magazine’s annual awards ceremony.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition in an article titled “The Crowning Laurel of the Year from the Fourth Estate of the Realm,” Ejiofor thanked God Almighty, appreciating the management and staff of Creekvibes Magazine for acknowledging his humanitarian efforts and finding him worthy of the honour.

The lawyer described the award as particularly meaningful because it came from the media, which he regarded as an essential pillar of democracy and a critical voice in the fight against injustice, abuse of power and institutional impunity.

Reflecting on his legal career, Ejiofor identified the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the media as two institutions he holds in high esteem, describing the NBA as the professional body that defines his calling and the media as a vital watchdog responsible for promoting accountability and protecting the public interest.

He noted that the media’s responsibility had become increasingly important in safeguarding democratic values, exposing societal ills and amplifying the voices of vulnerable and underrepresented people.

“Without a courageous, independent and responsible media, our democracy would be immeasurably diminished,” he stated.

Ejiofor described the recognition as more than a professional accolade, saying it represented an acknowledgement of his efforts to defend the oppressed, challenge injustice, protect fundamental freedoms and speak up for people whose rights had been violated.

He added that receiving the honour from a media organisation made it especially significant, as it reflected an independent appreciation of the sacrifices and commitment often required in the pursuit of justice.

According to him, the true value of a professional career lies not merely in the awards it attracts but in its impact on people’s lives, the injustices it confronts and the positive changes it brings to society.

While expressing humility and gratitude for the recognition, Ejiofor said the award had renewed his determination to intensify his human rights advocacy and remain steadfast in defending the vulnerable and those whose voices might otherwise go unheard.

He emphasised that the honour was not merely a personal achievement but a call to greater service, stressing that the struggle for justice requires sustained commitment and collective responsibility.

“The work of human rights advocacy is never truly finished, and no individual accolade can substitute for the collective responsibility we owe to humanity,” he said.

Ejiofor reaffirmed his commitment to upholding human dignity, protecting fundamental rights and ensuring that justice remains central to his professional engagements.

He attributed the recognition and milestones in his career to God’s grace, expressing gratitude for the strength and opportunities to serve humanity.

“Whatever good has been accomplished, and whatever milestones we may yet attain, His grace remains the ultimate source of our strength. To God alone be all the glory. It can only be God,” he affirmed.
