The Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Dr. Chizoba Prisca Ezeasor, has urged residents to remain calm and vigilant against Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), stressing the importance of preventive measures and prompt reporting of suspected cases.
In a statement issued on Oct. 21, Dr. Ezeasor advised residents to wash their hands regularly with soap and water, avoid contact with the blood and body fluids of suspected cases, and refrain from handling sick or dead wild animals, warning against touching the bodies or personal belongings of suspected cases.

She urged anyone who develops symptoms after possible exposure to seek prompt medical attention.
The ASPHCDA boss explained that Ebola warning signs may include fever, severe weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting and diarrhoea. However, she noted that these symptoms do not necessarily confirm Ebola infection, although possible exposure requires immediate medical attention.
Dr. Ezeasor emphasised the need to report suspected cases promptly to the appropriate health authorities, warning residents against concealing cases, attempting home treatment or circulating unverified information.
“Report suspected cases immediately to the appropriate health authorities. Do not hide cases, attempt home treatment or spread unverified information. Call the NCDC toll-free line on 6232 for public health guidance,” she noted.
She called on residents to remain alert, share information from credible sources and cooperate with health authorities, stressing that there was no need for panic but that vigilance and early reporting were essential to protecting lives and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
