Ozomkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye, the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), will on May 16 celebrate the life and legacy of his mother-in-law, the late Mrs. Margaret Nwofor, Adighinije, who passed on at the age of 103.
The thanksgiving and memorial service will hold at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, bringing together family members, political associates, and community leaders to honor the late matriarch.
Mrs. Nwofor, popularly known as Adighinije, lived a life described by relatives as one of faith, resilience, and service. She was a revered community figure whose counsel and generosity touched generations in Amawbia and beyond.
Dr. Oye said the celebration is not only to mourn her passing but to thank God for a life well spent and for the values she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
“At 103, Mama lived a fulfilled life. She was a woman of deep faith and unwavering integrity. Her legacy will continue to guide us,” he said.
The event will feature a Requiem Mass, tributes, and cultural rites in keeping with Amawbia traditions. Family members say the occasion will also serve as a reunion for relatives and well-wishers from across the state.
For many in the community, Mrs. Nwofor’s life reflects the virtues of humility, hard work, and devotion to family, qualities they say remain relevant today.
As the Nwofor family gathers on May 16, the celebration stands as a tribute to a matriarch whose 103 years of life left an enduring mark on her family and community.
