The Chief Medical Director, Beluchukwu Memorial Hospital and Maternity Enugwu-Ukwu, Dr. Chief Tochukwu Mbachi is in high spirits following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s recent appointments of competent medical experts to head some key vital institutions in the state.
The appointments include the reassuring re-appointment of Dr. Afam Obidike as the Anambra State Commissioner for Health; Dr. Ezeaka Uwaeme, Executive Secretary Anambra State Insurance Agency; Dr. Obianuju Okoye, Executive Secretary State Primary Health Care, and Dr Hillary Nkem Okeke, Executive Secretary State AIDS Control Agency.
Another reassuring and historic appointment was the recent engagement of Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu as the first ever female Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Awka replacing Dr. Joe Akabuike.
A press statement issued by Dr. Mbachi a member of the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Medical Association and former State Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association in Enugwu Ukwu, described their appointments as apt, given their proven medical track records of excellence and proficiency.
The Chief Medical Director urged them to remain focused to rejig their areas of competence to greater heights.
He commended Governor Soludo for making the right choices especially in appointing all medical doctors to head the health institutions.
Dr Mbachi reiterated his clamour for an improved primary care delivery in the state to ensure health for all.
He looked forward to a more symbiotic relationship between the state government and the private health practitioners.
The Medical Expert holds the traditional title of “Ayilinanya’ Enugwu-ukwu na Umu nri’ and is married with children.
