The Anambra State Civil Service Commission has organized an internal staff training programme aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery amid the challenges of a changing digital environment.

The training, themed: “Capacity Building for Efficient and Effective Service Delivery in a Fast Changing Digital Era”, brought together staff of the Commission for intensive learning and professional development.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Tony Ezenwaka, emphasized the need for staff re-orientation, outlining expectations for improved performance and alignment with the Commission’s institutional vision. He also assured participants of more training opportunities in the future to strengthen workforce capacity.

The programme featured lectures from three resource persons who addressed key aspects of public service reform.

Barr. Uche Nworah, a retired Permanent Secretary and former staff of the Commission, spoke on “Institutional Discipline, Accountability, and the Future of the Civil Service”. He stressed the importance of leadership by example and the need to rebuild public trust in government institutions.

In his presentation on zero tolerance for illegality, Mr. ENC Ogbaji urged staff to uphold Institutional credibility by avoiding unethical shortcuts and embracing discipline in their duties.

Also speaking, Mr. Bayo Ojeyinka, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum, delivered a lecture on “Service Delivery in a Digital World”. He highlighted the importance of accountability in modern governance, fostering a performance- driven culture, adopting digital records management, and ensuring timelines in service delivery.

In conclusion, a goodwill message was delivered by Professor Charles Ofoegbu, former Managing Director of Anambra State Petroleum Company, who spoke on “Public Trust and Professional Responsibility”, reinforcing the need for integrity in public service.

The highlight of the event was the ceremonial cutting of the training cake by Commission Members alongside the resource persons.
