The President of the Mothers’ Union, Women’s Guild and Girls’ Guild of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi, Dame Nkem Ikeakor, has urged Christian women to defend and advance the Christian faith through evangelism, discipleship and children’s ministry.
Ikeakor made the call July 29, while delivering her Presidential Address at the 18th Amichi Diocesan Women Conference held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Amichi.
Speaking on the conference theme, “Fight the Good Fight of Faith: An Imperative for All Christians, Now or Never,” she described the Christian life as a lifelong spiritual battle that demands commitment, intentionality, sacrifice and unwavering faith.
She said the call to fight the good fight of faith was a divine mandate rather than a suggestion, warning Christians against complacency, nominal faith and spiritual indifference.
According to her, the spiritual conflict began in the Garden of Eden and continues to this day, stressing that believers must remain steadfast and fight according to God’s principles and standards.
She urged mothers to rise from spiritual slumber by taking active roles in evangelism, discipleship, Sunday school teaching and children’s ministry.
Ikeakor also encouraged women to dedicate their time, talents and resources to defending the faith once delivered to the saints and passing it on to future generations.
The conference was attended by the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor, wives of bishops from within and outside the diocese, the Vicar of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, the Ven. Oliver Chigbo, his wife, Mrs. Adaora Chigbo, other clergy and members of the church.
