The President of the St. Paul’s Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Akpo, Lagos Branch, Mrs Cordelia Ndianefo, has commended the education reforms in Anambra State, describing them as important steps towards improving access to quality education and preparing young people for the future.
Ndianefo, who spoke in an interview on September 3 as Anambra marked 35 years as a state, particularly praised the reforms under Prof Chukwuma Soludo.
She noted that the reforms had focused on making education more accessible, upgrading school infrastructure and equipping students with skills needed in an increasingly technology-driven world.
The CWO leader specifically applauded the provision of free education in public schools, saying the policy had helped to reduce the financial burden on families while ensuring that more children could access basic and secondary education.
Turning to the annual August meeting, Ndianefo described the gathering as an important platform for women, families and community members to reconnect, exchange ideas and contribute to community development.
According to her, the meeting promotes unity and cooperation among women while providing an opportunity to strengthen relationships and pursue common objectives.
She explained that the decision to have individual branches host the annual meeting on a rotational basis had helped to increase participation and strengthen cooperation among members.
Ndianefo added that the annual meeting had continued to serve as an important institution for strengthening family and community bonds, while contributing to the socio-cultural and economic development of Igbo communities.
She stressed that sustained cooperation among women and community members remained essential to preserving cultural values and promoting collective development.
