The Anambra State Judiciary, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, held a special court session at the Judiciary Headquarters, Ekwulobia, to honour the memory and service of late Barrister Mrs. Obianuju Ijeoma Umeh- Ochiora.

Administrative Judge of Aguata Judicial Division, Justice O.A. Ezeoke, described the deceased as an exceptional legal practitioner, philanthropist and peace-loving woman whose remarkable contributions created a lasting legacy within the judiciary and society.

Justice Ezeoke said the passing of Barrister Umeh Ochiora created a significant vacuum among her family, colleagues and the legal community, urging everyone to accept God’s will with faith and humility.
Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Aguata Branch, Barrister Chijioke Nwankwo, said the Bar reserves such court sessions for members whose lives and professional contributions profoundly impacted the legal profession.

He described the deceased as a devoted mother, wife, sister and committed Christian whose unwavering faith sustained her through life’s challenges, adding that she served humanity with humility, excellence and selfless dedication.

The Anambra State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, said the gathering celebrated the life of a dedicated minister in the temple of justice who faithfully served Anambra State with distinction.

According to the Attorney-General, the late Barrister Umeh left enduring footprints in the administration of justice through her commitment to legal service, public advocacy and protection of indigent citizens’ rights.

He noted that the deceased represented the state in court, promoted alternative dispute resolution, served in several professional, religious and humanitarian organisations, and remained humble, compassionate and committed throughout her distinguished career.

The court session attracted judges, magistrates, customary court presidents, members of the Body of Benchers, legal practitioners, judiciary staff, government officials, the media and other dignitaries who paid glowing tributes to her exemplary life.
