The Parish Priest, St. Paul’s Catholic Church Akpo, Rev. Fr. Cyriacus Ubah, has called on employers of labour to consider performance to promoting staff rather than certificate.
He said this in a homily during Mass, at the Church, in Aguata Local Government Area, on August 23.
The cleric said, “Examination malpractice, sorting lecturers, sex for marks, have joined together to make nonsense of educational certificates, so bad that up to 80 per cent of certificate holders cannot defend their certificates.
“Unfortunately, these faulty certificates determine who occupies one office or the other. It therefore becomes imperative to consider performance in the job to retaining workers and promoting them.”
Fr. Ubah enjoined students to work hard in being developed rather than sorting to get certificates alone. It is not possible to give what you do not have.
“So, as a student, apprentice or acquisition of any kind of skill, give yourself the trouble of learning. This is to equip yourself with adequate knowledge to offering positive solution to societal problems.
“As you solve problems of the society, society will in turn solve your problems, you will not lack money, reputation or relevance, as such continue being useful to the society.”
