The Commissioner for Commerce, Anambra State, Hon. Nomso Chukwuma Ebonwu, has assured members of the Electronic Spare Parts Traders Association, Ogbaru, that the Anambra State Government will give due consideration to their request regarding the relocation of traders operating along the streets of the Main Market.

The commissioner gave the assurance during a meeting held in his office on today, June 2, 2026, when a delegation from the association, led by the Mayor of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Hon. Kenneth Okwuobi, paid him a courtesy visit.

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Ebonwu welcomed the delegation on behalf of the Solution Government 2.0 and commended their proactive efforts toward supporting the state’s vision of creating a more organized and business-friendly trading environment.

The commissioner noted that Governor Chukwuma Soludo remains committed to the transformation of markets and commercial hubs across the state, emphasizing that government policies are aimed at promoting orderliness, improving infrastructure and enhancing economic activities.

He assured the delegation that their appeal would receive the necessary attention and consideration in line with the administration’s commitment to sustainable development and the welfare of traders.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Engr. Michael Obiekwe, commended the delegation for their initiative and commitment toward supporting the state’s drive for a more organized commercial environment.

He reiterated the position of the commissioner, assuring the traders that the ministry would give due attention to their request in line with the policies and objectives of the Solution Government 2.0.

Engr. Obiekwe emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and stakeholders in achieving sustainable market development, improved business operations and economic growth across Anambra State.

Earlier, the Mayor of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Hon. Kenneth Okwuobi, informed the commissioner that the delegation was in the ministry to intimate him on previous engagements held with the former leadership of the Ministry of Commerce concerning the relocation of traders affected by the reconstruction and reorganization of the Main Market.

According to the mayor, the Electronic Spare Parts Traders Association has developed a modern market facility capable of accommodating traders currently conducting business on the streets of the main market, a situation he described as constituting obstruction and undermining the state’s urban renewal objectives.

He said that relocating such traders to the available market space would align with the vision of the Soludo administration to reform the economy, restore order in commercial areas and reposition Anambra State as a preferred destination for investment and business.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Electronic Spare Parts Traders Association, Ogbaru, Mr. Azubuike Victor, said that the association had constructed a befitting market equipped to accommodate traders displaced during the government’s reconstruction of the main market, as well as those presently trading on roadsides and other unauthorized locations.

Mr. Victor expressed appreciation to the Anambra State Government for its continued support to traders and for the numerous reforms introduced to improve the state’s commercial landscape.

He thanked Governor Soludo’s administration and the Ministry of Commerce for their commitment to market development and appealed for government support in facilitating the relocation process to ensure a more organized and conducive trading environment for all stakeholders.

The meeting ended on a positive note with both parties reaffirming their commitment to promoting orderly commerce, economic growth and sustainable market development in Anambra State.
