The Commissioner for Housing, Arc. Henry Arize, has fulfilled his commitment to improving operational efficiency in the Ministry of Housing by procuring and distributing 10 new HP high-performance laptop computers to staff members.
Presenting the laptops to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Obi Okonkwo, at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex in Awka on June 1, Commissioner Arize said the initiative was aimed at boosting productivity, particularly among professionals within the ministry.
The commissioner emphasized the need to establish a technical team that would actively participate in the execution and monitoring of housing projects across the state.

He explained that the team should comprise architects, builders, quantity surveyors, and structural engineers to ensure effective project delivery and adherence to professional standards.
Arc. Arize also disclosed that the Ministry is collaborating with the Ministry of Power and Water Resources to install solar-powered lighting systems in offices to support the effective use of the newly acquired laptops.
He further directed the Head of Administration to expedite the installation of solar-powered ceiling fans procured for the ministry last week.

Speaking on the state government’s housing agenda, the commissioner noted that Governor Chukwuma Soludo remains committed to the successful implementation of the Mass Housing Programme and the development of staff quarters across the state.
Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Obi Okonkwo, expressed appreciation to the commissioner for the gesture and assured him that the laptops would be distributed transparently and effectively to the relevant departments to enhance service delivery.
The presentation underscores the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening its workforce with modern tools and creating an enabling environment for improved performance and efficient service delivery.
