The Vicar of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Akpo, Rev. Fr. Innocent Chinazaekpere Uwakwe, has called on Nigerians to be purposeful citizens, describing it as requisite to making our society better.
He said this in a homily during Holy Mass to mark 7th Sunday on Easter celebration, at the Church, on May 17.
“We are the salt of this earth, so the society is as we kept it. If we decide to put things in order, the society will be orderly. It is wrong to wait until forced to do what is right. If government promulgate law to order traffic, it is obligated to all of us to obey, in order not to waste precious time on the road or even injure or kill ourselves in accident.”
Fr. Uwakwe noted that as rainy season has come, people should clear their gutters for easy flow of water.
“The aim of cleaning our gutters is to save our environs from degradation which will in turn give us better society for living,” he said.
The cleric called on everybody to see obedience to God, Church, Government, as requisite obligation to making the society better for all and sundry.
