A Methodist priest, Presbyter Anomnachi Ogwo, has called on fathers to remain steadfast in their God given role as heads of their families, leading by positive example.

Speaking on June 21 during a Father’s Day celebration, Presbyter Ogwo expressed concern that many fathers have gradually abandoned their responsibilities due to attitudes and behaviours that do not reflect christian values, as well as their inability to adequately provide for their families.

He noted that some men engage in actions that create tension in their homes, including extramarital relationships, contributing to family disputes and, in some cases, divorce.

The cleric, however, acknowledged that some wives may be difficult to please despite their husbands’ efforts, urging fathers to respond to such situations with love, patience, kindness, tolerance, generosity and understanding.

According to him, men should always strive to do what is right, remain prayerful, seeking God’s guidance in handling challenges within their homes.

Presbyter Ogwo advised fathers against provoking their spouses unnecessarily, stressing that every individual has limits and may react negatively when continually pushed beyond them.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Men’s Fellowship, Mr. Idigo Stanley, assured members that they would continue to work on their character, conducting in line with christian principles.

He said the fellowship remains committed to raising responsible fathers who will build strong families, contributing positively to society.
