The 2026 Church of Nigeria Communicators’ Conference has officially commenced in Onitsha, bringing together communication professionals, media officers and delegates from dioceses across the Anglican Communion in Nigeria for strategic discussions on strengthening the church’s evangelistic mission through effective communication.

Ahead of the conference, members of the National Organising Committee, led by the Church of Nigeria Communicator, Ven. Raphael Aderinwale, alongside the Local Organising Committee chaired by Ven. Ihemtuge Ikechukwu, paid a courtesy visit to the host bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, Bishop of the Diocese on the Niger, thanked God for the safe arrival of participants, assuring delegates that comprehensive arrangements had been made to ensure a successful conference.

He encouraged attendees to feel at home throughout their stay in Onitsha and to take full advantage of the opportunities for learning, networking and collaboration.

“All is set for a successful conference. Feel at home and have fruitful deliberations,” the bishop said, while offering prayers for the success of the event and the safe movement of delegates from different parts of the country.

Hosted by the Diocese on the Niger, the conference kick-started today June 23 to end on June 26, at the Diocesan Church Centre, Crowther Retreat Centre, Onitsha.

The conference is themed “The Watchman’s Trumpet: The Future of the Great Commission” and draws its inspiration from Ezekiel 33:7. Participants are expected to examine the evolving role of communication in advancing evangelism, strengthening the church’s mission, addressing emerging challenges in contemporary ministry.

The gathering is being held under the leadership of The Most Rev. Dr. Henry C. Ndukuba, Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), while Bishop Owen Nwokolo serves as the host.

Delegates will participate in workshops, presentations and strategic sessions aimed at enhancing communication effectiveness and deepening support for the Church’s Great Commission mandate.

The conference is expected to provide a platform for sharing ideas, strengthening professional networks and exploring innovative communication strategies for the growth of the Church in a rapidly changing media landscape.
