Christians have been admonished to place God above material possessions and avoid becoming overly attached to worldly wealth at the expense of their eternal destiny.
The charge was delivered by His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, during his pastoral visit to St. Theresa’s Parish, 3-3 Mba Farm, on July 26, where he presided over the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
Delivering his homily, Cardinal Arinze stressed that authentic Christian living requires making the right choices by placing God’s kingdom above every earthly attraction and urged the faithful not to allow the pursuit of material wealth to distract them from their spiritual calling, reminding them that lasting fulfillment is found in Christ.
The Cardinal also encouraged Christians to remain unwavering in their faith and commitment to God regardless of life’s circumstances.
Following the parish activities, the Cardinal, accompanied by members of the Congregation of the Brothers of Saint Stephen led by Br. Charles Okeke, visited the proposed site of the Francis Cardinal Arinze Secondary School Phase II at Trans-Nkisi, where he inspected the progress of ongoing development works.
