The Bishop of the Diocese on the Niger, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo has urged christians to remain steadfast in their faith, embrace their identity in Christ and remain committed to God’s purpose despite life’s challenges.
Bishop Nwokolo gave the advice on July 26 during the confirmation and admission Service held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Obosi, in the Obosi Archdeaconry, where he officiated the ceremony.
Preaching from John 17:15, the bishop encouraged the congregation to resist distractions that could draw them away from their christian calling, stressing that every believer has a unique purpose ordained by God.
He described christians as soldiers in the army of Christ, engaged in a lifelong spiritual battle, urging them to remain vigilant and place their trust in Jesus Christ, whom he described as the sure foundation for every believer.
The bishop admonished christians to rely on God’s strength in overcoming temptation and the challenges of daily life, noting that lasting victory over sin and the works of the enemy comes through unwavering faith in God.
He reminded the faithful that God has given believers the Holy Spirit to guide, strengthen and empower them to live victorious Christian lives.
Bishop Nwokolo emphasized the importance of studying and obeying the Word of God, describing the Holy Bible as the guide for righteous living and spiritual growth.
The service featured the confirmation and admission of candidates into full membership of the Anglican Communion, as they publicly affirmed their faith and received prayers for spiritual growth and steadfastness.
