The Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, community development, and shared prosperity, emphasizing that democracy flourishes when leaders listen to the people and ensure that development benefits all.
Speaking in commemoration of Democracy Day, Hon. Anazodo said his administration is laying the foundation for a more progressive and people-oriented Nnewi North, where every resident has a voice and equal opportunities to thrive.
According to the Mayor, the local government is witnessing a new phase of transformation driven by inclusiveness, accountability, and sustainable development.
“Together, we are building a local government where every voice matters, every citizen counts, and every dream has the opportunity to become a reality,” he stated.
Hon. Anazodo outlined five key priorities that will guide his administration’s efforts to improve the lives of residents:
Responsive and Transparent Governance: Promoting accountability, openness, and active engagement with citizens.
Quality Infrastructure Development: Expanding and maintaining roads, drainage systems, and public facilities across communities.
Education, Youth Empowerment, and Skills Acquisition: Investing in educational opportunities, vocational training, and youth development initiatives.
Enhanced
Healthcare and Social Welfare: Strengthening healthcare services and providing support for vulnerable groups.
Clean Environment and Sustainable Growth: Promoting environmental sanitation, flood control measures, and sustainable development practices.
The Mayor stressed that democracy requires active participation from both leaders and citizens, noting that collective effort remains essential to achieving lasting progress.
“Democracy is not a spectator sport. It succeeds when we work together, build together, and prosper together,” he said.
He concluded by calling for unity and continued cooperation among residents, urging them to remain committed to the shared vision of a greater Nnewi North.
“One people, one vision, one Nnewi North. Together, we will continue to move our local government forward and achieve greater success,” Anazodo stated.
