The Bishop of the Diocese of Nnewi, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, has urged members of the Nnewichi Anglican community to remain committed to the development of the church, community and nation.

Obi gave the charge on Sept. 3, during his visit to St. Joseph Anglican Church, Obiofia, Nnewichi, Nnewi, as part of activities marking the 2026 Diocesan Synod.

The synod has the theme, “Be Strong and Courageous.”

The bishop, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Ukamaka Obi, and synod delegates, was received by the Archdeacon, Ven. Arinze Anene, and parishioners.

Obi also paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the traditional ruler of Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba (Obidiugwu), who received the bishop and the synod delegates.

Addressing members of the community at the palace, Obi said their service to the church was a responsibility that required diligence, dedication and commitment.

He urged them to give their best to the work of the church and contribute to the development of their community and the wider society.

The bishop also called for unity among members of the community, urging them to work collectively for peace and development.

Igwe Onyekaba expressed appreciation for the bishop’s visit and welcomed him and the synod delegates to his palace.

He urged members of the community to remain strong and courageous and continue to support the growth of the church and community.

The visit was part of activities for the 2026 Nnewi Diocesan Synod.
