The pioneer Anglican Bishop of Amichi Diocese, His Lordship, the Rt. Rev. Ephraim Okechukwu Ikeakor, has accepted the invitation to serve as the keynote speaker at the 35th Anniversary Celebration of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council. He also accepted to be featured as the Face of the 2026 Man of the Year Magazine of the Council.
Bishop Ikeakor accepted the invitation on July 21, when some members of the State Working Committee of the NUJ, Anambra State Council, led by its Chairman, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, PhD, paid him a familiarisation and courtesy visit at his office in Amichi.
During the visit, Comrade Odogwu formally presented the Council’s invitation letters to the Bishop, who warmly accepted the honours and expressed gratitude to the Union for finding him worthy of the recognition.
“I am not the only bishop in Anambra State, yet you chose to bring this honour to my doorstep. I sincerely appreciate this gesture and pray that God grants me the grace to fulfil the responsibility,” Bishop Ikeakor said.
The cleric also charged journalists to remain focused, committed and professional in the discharge of their duties, irrespective of the challenges they encounter.
The visit formed part of activities leading to the NUJ Anambra State Council’s 35th anniversary celebration and the unveiling of its 2026 Man of the Year magazine.
