The statewide cleanup exercise in Anambra State called by Anambra State government as part of the state of emergency on the environment and dirt was successful.
Residents of Awka showed total support and willfully participated in desilting drains while cleaning up their environment. They were seen in their numbers participating in the exercise.
The responses were the same from residential areas to the market places as business owners also took part and willingly cleaned up their gutters and environment.
As the clean up progressed, the government provided logistics for the evacuation of the dirts removed from the drains and gutters which demonstrated seriousness by ensuring that the restriction on movement for non-essential service providers was implemented.
In all, Awka residents gave their all in the exercise and showed that they were willing partners with the government in redeeming the environment from dirts.
