‎The Youth Wing of the Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC) has honoured distinguished personalities from the 10 towns that make up Anaocha Local Government Area in recognition of their outstanding contributions to community development and service to humanity. The recognition ceremony, held on Sept. 7, at the Neni Town Secretariat, Neni, attracted youths, community leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
‎
‎Speaking at the event, the National President of the ASTUC Youth Wing, Comrade Ken Okoli, said the initiative was designed to celebrate individuals whose achievements, character and contributions to society had made them worthy role models for the younger generation. Okoli urged youths to rise above the challenges facing society and prepare themselves for responsible citizenship and leadership. He encouraged them to uphold values such as hard work, integrity, discipline, respect for elders, education, skills acquisition and commitment to community service.
‎

‎He also advised young people to avoid social vices and other activities capable of jeopardising their future, stressing the need for them to make responsible choices and channel their talents towards productive ventures. The ASTUC Youth Wing leader called on parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen youth mentorship and empowerment programmes, noting that the sustainable development of Anaocha depended largely on the active and responsible participation of its younger population.
‎

‎The Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, Honourable Romanus Ibekwe, commended the ASTUC Youth Wing for promoting youth reorientation and positive values. Ibekwe said his administration had prioritised youth empowerment through skills acquisition programmes, adding that the council had completed the first and second phases of its training and empowerment initiative in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s “One Youth, Two Skills” programme.
‎
‎Some of the award recipients, including Mayor Romanus Ibekwe, Dr. Afam Obidike, Hon. Gerald Ozo, Barrister Oli, Hon. Ndubuisi Obiadi and Hon. Ikeobi Ejiofor, expressed their profound appreciation to the ASTUC Youth Wing for recognising and honouring their contributions to the development and wellbeing of society. They urged youths to remain focused, hardworking and committed to personal development, while encouraging them to make meaningful contributions to the growth and progress of their communities.
‎
‎The ceremony ended with renewed calls for unity, responsible leadership, youth empowerment and the promotion of positive values as essential pillars for the continued development of Anaocha Local Government Area.
