The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Pharm Chisom Uchem together with the WHO South East Zonal Coordinator, Dr Chukwumuanya Igboekwu and WHO Anambra State Coordinator, Dr Bonos Mohammed has on November 27, 2025 carried out on the spot visit to Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs).
The visit, which was to Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) Nwafia and Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Centre, Abagana both in Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA) was used to ascertain/assess state of affairs and use of Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) recieved by the facilities.

The ASPHCDA boss during the visits admonished health workers on the Patients’ Bill of Rights and the need for a clean and healthy environment as was the right of patients who visits the healthcare facilities to receive care.

Pharm Uchem alongside the WHO team assessed working environments, Solar Direct Drive (SDD) and Charts of the facilities visited such as; the Delivery rooms, Postnatal/Inpatient wards, OPD, rest rooms, vaccine storage equipment, and monitoring charts while educating the staff on ways to ensure effective service delivery in their centres.

The WHO South East Zonal Coordinator, Dr Chukwumuanya Igboekwu while commending service delivery in facilities visited urged for improved Routine Immunization (RI) and outreaches services which would aid improve Immunization coverages in the area.
He noted the importance and need for a 24 hour Skilled Birth Attendant availability, full time cleaners and an improved Labour room environment in the facilities.

The Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of Primary Healthcare Centre, Nwafia, Mrs Adaoma Egwuonwu while thanking the team for the visit, noted that improvements would be made in erring areas as instructed.
